Powder & Terracotta

It is easy in a seaside villa, of course — yet the mood of a sunset can be conjured on many other surfaces too.

The colours of a sunset — dusty pink, terracotta, warm clay — do not belong to the coast alone. Lay them on a wall, a cushion, a pot, and a plain courtyard starts to glow like the last hour of a summer day.

Keep the materials honest: aged terracotta, rattan, a blue-striped cushion for contrast. The warmth does the emotional work; you just have to let the light in.
